Terms of Use

Last updated 26 August 2026. These terms cover use of this website and participation in the TIMBR Field private beta.

The short version. TIMBR Field is beta software and is not finished. It is a tool that helps you record and calculate, not a substitute for your own professional judgement as an arborist. Your data stays in your tenant, which means you keep it whatever happens between us.

1. About these terms

This website and the TIMBR Field application are provided by SG Arboricultural Consulting (ABN details available on request), Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. By using the site or taking part in the beta you agree to these terms.

2. Beta software

TIMBR Field is in private beta. That means it is incomplete, actively changing, and may contain defects. Features may be added, altered or removed. There is no guaranteed uptime, no service level agreement and no promise that a given feature will exist in the released product.

We ask beta participants to tell us what breaks, and we will fix what we can. In exchange you accept that you are using software that is still being built.

3. Professional judgement stays with you

This one matters, so we will be plain about it. TIMBR Field records information and performs arithmetic. It does not assess trees.

  • Tree Protection Zone and Structural Root Zone figures shown in the app are reference calculations derived from the measurements you enter, using the method set out in AS 4970. They are a starting point, not a determination.
  • Whether a notional figure is appropriate for a particular tree, site or development is a matter for the assessing arborist. Site conditions, species, soil, and history routinely mean the notional figure is not the right answer.
  • Health, structure, risk and retention assessments recorded in the app are yours. The app provides the fields, you provide the expertise.
  • You remain responsible for the accuracy of your measurements, the correctness of your inputs, and every professional opinion in any report you issue.

Nothing produced by TIMBR Field should be relied on as arboricultural advice in its own right, and it does not replace an inspection by a suitably qualified arborist.

4. Your data and your account

Data captured through TIMBR Field is written into your own Microsoft 365 tenant. You own it, you control it, and you are responsible for it, including access permissions, retention and backup within your organisation.

You are responsible for keeping your Microsoft 365 credentials secure and for the actions of people you grant access to.

If you stop using TIMBR Field, your data stays where it already is. We do not hold it and there is nothing for us to return or withhold.

5. Acceptable use

Use TIMBR Field for legitimate arboricultural work. Do not attempt to reverse engineer, resell, or sublicense the software, and do not use it to store material you have no right to hold or in a way that breaks Australian law.

6. Intellectual property

The TIMBR name, logo, software and this website remain the property of SG Arboricultural Consulting. Your assessment data, photographs and reports remain entirely yours. Using our software gives us no claim over your work.

7. Liability

Nothing in these terms excludes any guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Subject to that, TIMBR Field is provided during the beta on an as is basis. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profits, or loss arising from reliance on reference calculations or recorded data without the exercise of your own professional judgement. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to resupplying the service or paying the cost of having it resupplied.

8. Pricing and the beta

Participation in the private beta is free. Pricing for the released product has not been set. Beta participants will be told what it costs before anything is ever charged, and will keep beta pricing for the first twelve months after public launch.

9. Ending it

You can stop using TIMBR Field at any time and take nothing with you, because everything is already in your tenant. We may end a beta participation with reasonable notice, for example if the beta closes or the product direction changes.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia.
